Restored photograph by Phil Ballard of a 1922 Captain John Noel photograph taken on the 1922 Everest Expedition, the first attempt by George Mallory and company to climb the mountain prior to the more notable and disastrous expedition in 1924. It depicts Mt. Everest from the base camp in the Rongbuk Valley, Tibet.
The image was used as a postcard that was sent to sponsors of the expedition, printed up ahead of time and then signed and couriered back to their buyers from Base Camp in ‘24.
